Hall of Fame Autographs - Update

I love collecting autographs.  They are my favorite kind of sports collectible.

I have a few autographed books and the like, but most of my collection is sports, pretty much all hockey.  I usually go for certified autographs from sports cards companies.

Autograph collecting usually revolves around a theme.  To make a collection more interesting, you gotta have a central idea or set some limits to the collection.  For me, even a theme like "NHL players" is too broad.

One of my favorite autograph collections is composed of players who have been named to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Mr. Moustache

The newest addition to my Hall of Fame set is the man behind hockey's most famous moustache, Mr. Lanny McDonald.

Lanny was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992.  He was part of the Stanley Cup-winning Calgary Flames in 1989.

He slipped back into a Flames jersey this year as a member of the team at the Heritage Alumni game during the 2011 Heritage Classic in Calgary.  He even scored a goal, beating goaltender Eric Fichaud on a penalty shot.

He remains one of the most popular and recognizable figures in the hockey world.  Great-looking signature, too!

This brings my collection to fourteen Hall-of-Famers.  You can see my entire collection of Hall-of-Famers here.

Set Update: 1963-64 Parkhurst

Marcel Pronovost
1963-64 Parkhurst #46 Rene Marcel Pronovost.

Here's a new addition to my 1963-64 Parkhurst set.  This is the first player added to my set from the Detroit Red Wings.

By this point in his career, Pronovost was 33 years old and had played in 848 NHL games.  He would eventually play in over 1200 NHL games!

This legendary defenseman was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame 15 years later, in 1978, along with winger Andy Bathgate and goalie Jacques Plante.

My set collection now consists of two cards.
